ROCK IN RIO RETURNS TO BRAZIL 

 

The most important worldwide music festival returns to its home of origin to share the powerful moment the country is living.

 

 With 700,000 tickets sold, Rock in Rio ensues its special addition before commencing new shows in Lisbon, Madrid and other international destinations.

 

Miami, Fl. (September 19, 2011) Rock in Rio returns home. After 10 years, local audiences can again enjoy one of its most highly recognized creations. With consecrations in Portugal and Spain, Rock in Rio sustained and developed an incomparable formula for success thanks to its solid and remarkable international production team. Now after 25 years one of the largest platforms for music on an international level promises innovative performances and groundbreaking experiences developed uniquely for the audience that catapulted the show to international acclaim.

Rock in Rio shall take place in Rio de Janeiro on the 23rd, 24th, 25th and 29th of September and the 1st and 2nd of October 2011 in the Jacarepaguá district, just west of the grand city. Curiously the spectacular event is taking place in the same place where it began its history in 1985. The stage is luxurious and placated with a beautiful, natural scenic background.

Rock in Rio arrives in Brazil during a fortuitous moment for the booming country, with powerful investments that join a series of historical events that shall take place in the nation, including the World Cup in 2014 and the Olympics in 2016.

The festival makes a significant contribution to the positive image of sustainability and economic growth enveloping the vast country. The festival’s first edition contributed to the music industry’s growth within the country by a whopping 180%, demonstrating the importance of the return of the festival during such a poignant time in Brazil’s rich history.

The series now embraces nine editions: three in Brazil (1985, 1991 and 2001), four in Portugal (2004, 2006, 2008 and 2010) and two in Spain (2008 and 2010). The festival has united more than 5,000,000 people throughout its history, with more than 780 hours of music and broadcasts in more than 80 countries and transmissions to more than one billion viewers.

The festival’s Rio presentation is already sold out with more than 100,000 tickets sold on Christmas and the remaining tickets sold just four days later. Tickets sold just five months before the concert's scheduled date.

Some of the artists participating in ROCK IN RIO 2011 include:

Katy Perry, Rihanna, Elton John, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Motörhead, Metallica, Ke$ha, Stevie Wonder, Lenny Kravitz, Shakira, Maná, Coldplay, Guns N´Roses, Maroon 5, Snow Patrol, Evanescense, System of a Down, among a long list of other performers.

Rock in Rio also has a firm commitment with each of the cities it participates in focusing on social development and environmental issues. Through the project “For a Better World,” thousands of people in Brazil, Portugal and Spain have been helped with part of the proceeds obtained from concert ticket sales and other promotional events.
